A Scholarship Programme to Improve access to Sport for Disadvantaged Children
Certain sports are today out of reach for the needy yet talented. At Dodo Club we are determined to address this by setting up The Dodo Foundation as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
We are conscious that not all parents can afford the average ÂŁ7/hour fee that many clubs are charging out there.
Funded by our members and local businesses, The Dodo Foundation will offer ten football academy scholarships every year to children aged 5-10 whose parents (both mum & dad) are on benefits and five boxercise scholarships to 15â20-year olds. We will work with local councils to identify genuine cases.
With this new initiative, children of the less fortunate will get healthier while making new friends, and society as a whole will improve. Over the next few weeks, we will work on setting up a number of active partnerships to deliver on this worthy objective. Local businesses who would like to partner with us and have their logos displayed are invited to get in touch. Donations may qualify for tax advantages as this is recognised as having a public benefit, using sport and physical activity for social good.
Good luck to everyone at the Dodo Foundation.Â
Itâs an amazing cause and an incredible platform for children who arenât as fortunate. It will allow access to opportunities which can and will change their lives. Football is a beautiful game, having grown up playing myself.Â
I know the atmosphere of the sport and people involved allowed me to grow and develop not only as a footballer but as a person. Good luck!
ERIN SMITH – MISS ENGLAND SPORTSWOMAN 2021 – ( Miss Worcester)
To everyone involved in the Dodo Club,
My name is Jake Mathot, currently in the final of the Mr England competition having won the sports round in June. I am really impressed with the work that has gone into the community to create opportunities for children who enjoy playing football. Having been a football coach myself for kids of ages varying from 4 to 14, I have learnt just how fulfilling it is for children to be involved in activities such as these as much as possible. It keeps them energised, improves their self-esteem and creates friendships amongst children of all ages.Â
The support of the Dodo Foundation, who aim to find the ten academy scholarships every year, is incredible and those who are fortunate to earn this chance must realise what a brilliant opportunity it is. To those who are aiming to earn this scholarship I wish the best of luck, although whatever the outcome make sure you KEEP PLAYING FOOTBALL!!Â
JAKE MATHOT – MR ENGLAND SPORTSMAN 2021
I would like to thank the Dodo Academy for all the work being done in the local community for the residents.
It is lovely to see that young people of all abilities are welcome, to improve personal fitness, discipline, and motivation.
I congratulate the club on their magnificent achievement and wish them continued success for the years ahead.
